This week, we sat down with Antonio Rillera of LeadPageNinjas (click here to see a listing of all his templates). 1) Why did you decide to create templates for the LeadPages™ Marketplace?
I create templates in the LeadPages™ Marketplace to help businesses and entrepreneurs get more leads and sales for their business using pages we’ve already tested and are proven to work. I think that is probably the most important part of why people use LeadPages™ in the first place, to use something that already works.
2) What benefits have you seen from publishing on our Marketplace?
I could go on and on about that 🙂 BUT, we’ve really been ecstatic about the success we’ve seen on the Marketplace. To date (late December), we’ve seen:
- Over 180 total template sales, with the majority coming from our Product Upsell Page
- $1,200 in total revenue (and our templates only sell for the minimum $7 limit, too!)
Getting 100% of the commissions from each template sale has been phenomenal. I don’t think anyone else does that, so if you’re a template author and you aren’t selling on the Marketplace, you’re really missing out.
3) Why did you create the Product Upsell Page?
I created the Product Upsell Page to use in one of my software product funnels. Basically, we needed a way to upsell customers right away into buying the multi-site version of our product before they even checked out. We actually ‘borrowed’ the idea from an old LeadPages™ show episode, re-designed it and coded it to use in LeadPages™ so we could make changes on the fly.
Once we started testing it we immediately saw a 10-15% boost in people selecting our higher priced multi-site package, which was really cool. Although I am no longer part of that software product, the guys who own it now are still using it as part of their funnel because it works.
4) How did you create your template? Did you collaborate with any designers or coders?
I created the template myself. I have been a web designer for a lot of years and study everything related to conversions, sales, and landing page design, so I just decided to build this one myself and test it out quickly with LeadPages™.
5) What are some ways marketers can use your template? Any “special features” first time users should be sure to take advantage of?
The cool part about the Product Upsell Page, specifically, is that it can be used to dynamically change the pricing and checkout links on your page. So depending on what product the customer selects, you can direct them to the place you want. In most of the pages, I create I try to focus on ease of use for both the template admin and the person who sees it. I think this one does that pretty well.
6) What are the best pieces of advice you could give to someone thinking about creating a template?
The best advice I can give is to just put user experience at the forefront of your mind. Instead of copying a template that you saw or creating a page that uses fancy modern techniques, actually, think about how someone will use this page.
I like to ask myself when I am testing a page I created, “Would my mom know what to do on this page?” She’s…not very technical at all when it comes to computers. If she landed on the page and couldn’t figure out the next steps in three seconds or less it can probably be simplified.
7) What’s one kind of template you’re dying to see added to the Marketplace?
I am definitely interested in seeing more B2B templates enter the Marketplace. I have a list of ideas and designs I am already planning to create myself too. 😉
8) Are there any marketers out there whom you would absolutely love to see create a Marketplace template?
Oh yeah, definitely! So many I can think of, but of course, some of the amazing marketers like Frank Kern and Ryan Levesque are names that come to mind.
Also, any marketers that do a million dollars a month in sales. Although getting them to share their top performing pages might be tricky. 🙂 In general, anyone that has mastered lead gen and marketing in one way or another and do tons of split tests with PROVEN pages.
9) Do you have any other Marketplace template ideas in the works?
I definitely have a lot of solid ideas I am planning on releasing. They are pages that I have tested for myself and for my high level consulting clients to generate lots of leads. So stay tuned for those!
10) Are you using LeadPages in your business right now? If so, how are you using it?
Of course! I use LeadPages to bring in leads for my consulting clients and even to generate leads in my own businesses. Our custom LeadPage service LeadPageNinjas.com is a good example of how we use LeadPages™. Even though I know how to code pages, I still use LeadPages™ features as much as possible to save me time (and I’m known to pop LeadBoxes™ onto websites that I’ve already made).
Why spend a ton of time coding a new page when I can be set up in a few minutes on a proven template with LeadPages™? It’s a no-brainer for me, and clients I see use it to get results.
