[Feature Update] One-Click Facebook Registration = Getting Your Users’ Best Email Addresses

Featured Video Play Icon

When we released LeadLinks last week, we asked people to guess what they thought the release would be. A lot of people guessed some sort of Facebook registration is what we’d be releasing when we announced our huge release of LeadLinks.

Now we can see why. Facebook has over 1.3 billion active monthly users making it the biggest social network out there. On average, about 48% of those users log into Facebook every day and this number is huge. We actually wanted to give you that 1-2 punch.

Last week, we released LeadLinks and there’s a link below this video to the post where we announced LeadLinks and what it is and this week we’re releasing a feature that allows Facebook registration with your LeadPages and LeadBoxes. So this means with Facebook registration is enabled on a LeadPage like this and someone comes it, if they’re logged into Facebook already, they’ll be able to opt-in just by clicking register. Or if they come to a LeadBox like this, again they’ll be able to opt-in just by clicking register if they’re already logged into Facebook. This also works with multiple form feeds so if you wanted to collect, name, address, phone number or a whole bunch of other fields, you can do that.

What’s great about this is number one you’re getting the user’s best email address because usually people log into Facebook with an email account they use daily. Number two, it can also increase your conversion rates because the field is pretty populated. We’ve seen split tests where use of this increase conversion rates and we’ve instances where it decreases. It all depends on the market you’re in, the traffic source and so on. We encourage you to split the result and find out what works best for your audience. Now if you do get a statistically significant split test, do let us know so we can feature you on the blog.

Facebook registration can be enabled on all templates that support multiple form fields and it works with LeadBoxes. Now you might be wondering what happens if someone comes here and they’re not logged into Facebook, well let me show you. I’m going to log out of Facebook here real quick and now when I’m logged out, when I come to the same opt-in page and click on the opt in, a standard opt-in appears. This allows you to make sure you don’t miss any opt-ins because people aren’t logged into their Facebook accounts.

Now let’s look at how to set this up inside of LeadPages. Whether you’re enabling this on a LeadPage or a LeadBox, once you’re done customizing your page, go to opt-in form integration settings, select which integration you’d like to use as well as what list you want to add people to and then turn on use Facebook registration. When you turn this on, you won’t immediately see the Facebook registration box and the editor. You’ll need to go into preview mode in order to view the registration box.

Once everything is set up and done, click on save page. Now people can opt in to your list, register for your webinars, get your training and so on when you use the register with Facebook option. This option is now available inside of LeadPages and you can use it with both LeadPages and LeadBoxes.

If you’re a LeadPages customer, this is immediately available to you. If you’ll be using this new feature in your business, please take a second and type yes into the comments section below this video and if you’re feeling industrious, tell us how you plan on using it. If you’re not a LeadPages customer, please join us by going to LeadPages.net to get LeadPages.

I’m Jeff Wenberg. Have a spectacular day.

  • ranger9268

Looks like a really cool feature. I am an existing Leadpages user and have an optin form created, I went to “Opt-in Form Integration” to select the Facebook feature, but didn’t see the feature available. What should I do?

    • Matt Wiggins

      Same here.

      • Kat Von Rohr

Great question. This Facebook registration feature is enabled on the all the templates inside LeadPages that give you multiple form fields (along with all LeadBoxes). So if you’re looking at the opt-in integration and you’re not seeing “Use Facebook Registration” — it means that this particular template doesn’t allow for multiple form fields yet. You can see which templates allow for multiple form fields, and offer this Facebook registration feature, by looking underneath each template in the members area.

        • Matt Wiggins

Thanks for the reply – I tried it on both LeadBoxes and the “Basic Squeeze Page (Aligned to the Right)”. I’ll contact support, as I have another question, anyway.

          • Kat Von Rohr

Thanks Matt – appreciate it. Our awesome support team is standing by to help. 🙂

    • Mal

      Me too??

  • This looks great guys! Question for you: if we use this on a squeeze page but the user doesn’t have a Facebook account are they still able to opt-in somehow?

    • Jeff Wenberg

Tom, great question. Yes they can still opt-in. When someone isn’t logged into their account or they don’t have one, a regular opt-in box shows up. If you check out the video I demo the feature so you can see exactly what happens.

      • Thanks Jeff! Keep up the great work.

        • Jeff Wenberg

          No problem Tom, will do!

  • Luis Rivera

Heck Yeah I am using this! I wish the one click opt-in was available for the 179 a year, as that is what I bought to start with. I am not sure how that would convert over at the present time, but this facebook opt in is genius. I was wondering if you were considering merging with Easy Webinar? The community is growing and this feature would boost the amount of activity and transmission between companies. Thanks again guys. I will report back when I lay this out this coming week.

    • Jeff Wenberg

Luis, the Facebook Registration option is currently available to all LeadPages customers, so you should be good to go with adding it to your pages.

      • Luis Rivera

Thanks Jeff. I enjoy all your videos. You’re a voice over genius. Stay well.

        • Jeff Wenberg

Thanks Luis, I appreciate the kind words. Take care!

  • successt

This is a great new feature, thank you! In the video it stated we would be able to collect additional info like a phone number. However, it did not say exactly how to set that up…. and yes I’m a leadpages customer.

    • Kat Von Rohr

Thanks Greg! If you go into your Integration Settings and click “yes” on “Use Facebook Registration,” and then click “okay”, you will immediately open a new window that gives you options to collect additional information like name, county, city, phone, etc. If you have any questions whatsoever, our support team is standing by to help.

  • Rob Jones

Very nice. Will we be able to use it with Office Autopilot to collect other Facebook data…birthday, gender, likes, groups, etc?

    Like so:

    https://officeautopilot.zendesk.com/entries/21522078-Facebook-integration

    • Kat Von Rohr

My apologies Rob, but this new Facebook feature doesn’t work with Office Autopilot at this time. So you won’t be able to use this feature to collect additional data like this.

  • Joe Simo

    YES

    • Kat Von Rohr

      Nice! Thanks Joe.

  • Sharon Hunt Broughton

I love this. Thanks so much!

    • Kat Von Rohr

Thanks Sharon! Appreciate the kind words.

  • michelle

YES!!! I am so thankful that I bought this system. You guys are AMAZING with adding all these incredible features. Hands down, this is the best tool I’ve purchased for my business. I’ll be running a new FB campaign –> webinar registration in February and can already see that this will help tremendously with my opt-ins. Thanks!

    • donnaandtora

Totally agree @disqus_1Mw4xT96Qr:disqus, LeadPages is totally amazing and they update and upgrade their features more than any other business I’ve come across. This FB registration a really exciting update!

      • Kat Von Rohr

Thanks for the kind words! Let us know how this feature is working for you. 🙂

    • Jeff Wenberg

Michelle, we would love to hear how it goes. Would you share your results once you get them?

  • Finally 🙂

    • Kat Von Rohr

      Haha – thanks Zed. 🙂

  • This is such a great edition! I have to say I’m very impressed with LeadPages you have me as a customer for life!

    • Kat Von Rohr

      Awesome! Thanks Freddie. 🙂

  • Johnny

After the person clicks “register with Facebook” do they then have to accept anything after that, like a fb app? or do they then go straight to the Thank You Page, like a regular email opt in?

    • No they just register immediately. It is awesome.

      • Johnny

oh wow. that IS awesome, and BETTER than Facebook Connect, which requires people to accept an app, which my guess is cuts down on optins. Thank you!

    • Jeff Wenberg

Johnny, as Peter already mention they opt-in exactly how they would when using a regular opt-in box. They submit their info and they’re taken to whatever page you’ve set up as your thank you page.

  • Russell Lundstrom

    Great update, G+ next?

    • Kat Von Rohr

Haha – no promises Russell. Just have to wait and see. 🙂

  • Willimam

Yep. I’ll let you know the results. Hoping this could bump our facebook traffic optin rate, which is currently at 50% conversion.

    • Kat Von Rohr

Thanks! We would love to hear if this new feature boosts your results even further. 🙂

  • Yes! I am beginning to ramp up my social marketing, including creating a private FB group for my online courses. So FaceBook is going to become part of my dialogue with my clients. The FB sign-in will fit hand-in-hand with this development.

    • Kat Von Rohr

Awesome! We would love to hear how this feature impacts your results.

  • David Vaughan

Appears this will not work when using Aweber, is that correct?

    • NicholasKusmich

great question! would love to know the answer!

      • Kat Von Rohr

Unfortunately, the answer is yes, that’s correct. This new feature does not work with AWeber at this time. Sorry about that.

        • NicholasKusmich

Hey Kat, it seems some of the newer features of LP can’t work with Aweber… what is the next best Autoresponder you suggest that will allow me to integrate all these new features? I might need to make a switch.

          • Kat Von Rohr

Honestly, it’s hard to say what’s “the next best,” because it really depends on what you’re looking for. That said, here are a few email service providers you may want to check out.

            1. Infusionsoft
            2. GoToWebinar
            3. MailChimp
            4. iContact
            5. MadMimi
            6. GetResponse
            7. ConstantContact
            8. SendReach

  • Ian Ralphs

    VERY nice 🙂

Been looking at a lot of Facebook options this afternoon, and you’ve pretty much nailed it for what I’m after!!

    • Kat Von Rohr

      Great to hear! Thanks Ian.

    • Jeff Wenberg

Ian, just curious how you’ll be using it in your business. Would you elaborate at all? You don’t have to give away trade secrets, just like to hear how people are using LeadPages to do things. 🙂

      • Ian Ralphs

Hi Jeff – no problem at all! No secrets here! I’ll be looking to use it to place opt-in forms for selected pieces of content I’ll be putting out – PDF’s, reports etc – as a way to help build a loyal following of people who appreciate the finer content in life 😉

Would also love to hear from LeadPages any specific strategies or ideas that you, Clay & team recommend (or case studies of successes that people have had).

  • Jackson Mumey

Yes, I plan to use this with both Leadboxes and Leadpages. I’ve found significantly higher opt-in rates with my AWeber forms that are pre-populated with Facebook info

    • Kat Von Rohr

Good question Jackson. Yes this feature has been enabled. However, you can only use Facebook registration on your LeadBoxes and LeadPages templates that allow for multiple form fields. So if you’re looking at your integration settings and you’re not seeing “Use Facebook Registration” then it’s possible that you may be using a template that doesn’t allow for multiple form fields yet.

You can see which templates allow for multiple form fields, and offer this Facebook registration feature, by looking underneath each template in the members area.

      • Jackson Mumey

Thanks Kat. My LeadPages do have multiple fields already, but they are custom fields. Is that why I can’t use this feature?

        • Kat Von Rohr

In that case, I’d say to submit a support ticket about this issue at: https://support.leadpages.net/. Our awesome support team is standing by to help.

      • Ian Moncrieff MacMillan

Thank you. A big leap forward. Just one more step to nail it! If you simply made the optin optional on ALL your pages, we can add our own optins/actions to the forms without editing the HTML.

  • This is awesome…but one suggestion:

I know many people are reluctant to go the Facebook registration route and would rather just give a name and email.

How about an option below the Facebook registration box that says something like: “Don’t want to register with Facebook? Click here”…just so the user has the option to either use Facebook to register or a simple name and/or email.

    Thoughts?

    • alex

      Benji, exactly what I thought.

We might lose a conversion because they simply don’t want to sign up with facebook, they might think it’s something fishy… So I think its a great idea to give them an option to simply type in a name and email.

      • Kat Von Rohr

Thanks for the feedback. Will pass the suggestion along. 🙂

    • WaltLaurel

I second that…Let’s ensure we take away any “friction” caused by the perception of intruding on FB privacy for some of those who want to join our lists.

      • Maggie Percy

Totally agree…I myself tend to be a bit leery of using FB registration at times, because then they want to post as me, etc, and I don’t like that. Having both options would work for me.

    • Pam McAllister

Agree 100%. I don’t see using this without that feature.

    • Thoranna Kristin Jonsdottir

Agree – have the option 😉

  • Sven Kaven

This soooooooo fits in to our project. cheers.
    Sven

    • Jeff Wenberg

Sven, that’s awesome! Will you keep us posted on how it’s working for you?

      • Sven Kaven

Sure, will do. We will do our next webinar registration with this and traffic comes through paid fb traffic.

        • Jeff Wenberg

Oh nice! Coming through FB with FB Registration. I can’t wait to hear the results. Rock on Sven!

          • Kat Von Rohr

I second that! Rock on Sven. 🙂

  • johnny

One more question, if they ARE logged into fb, and they see that pre-populated email address there, but choose to enter a different email address, does LP allow them to do that?

    • Jeff Wenberg

Johnny, yes you can 100% do this. If you look at the box that contains your Facebook name and image you can click on the x in the corner. Then you’ll be asked if you want to clear the info. Once you clear it, you can put in whatever email you’d like to use.

  • Yes!!! Thanks so much for adding this feature!

    • Kat Von Rohr

      Thanks Audria!

  • Francisco Soler

You guys rock. This sytem is awsome. Thank you!!!!!!!!

    • Kat Von Rohr

      Awesome! Thanks Francisco. 🙂

  • Interview Academy

Wow! I love you guys. Just one question…So did you say I can use the FB registration to register a webinar? I’m trying to find a way around NOT using an expensive service like gotowebinar for my first webinar.

    • Kat Von Rohr

Yes! You can definitely use this Facebook registration feature to sign up attendees for a webinar. You just have to use either a LeadBox or a LeadPages webinar template that enables multiple form fields — like the Web 3.0 Webinar registration page in this video — to do that.

Also, if you’re interested in hosting a webinar without using GoToWebinar, you may want to check out this video that Clay filmed a while back that shows you how to host a webinar with our “Live” page inside LeadPages: http://blog.leadpages.net/free-gotowebinar-google-plus-hangout-webinars/

      • Interview Academy

Thanks Kat! I recall seeing this video when it was originally posted. That’s what got me looking for alternatives to gotowebinar. Can I pre-record a webinar in Google Hangouts? I tend to stumble through my words so I’d like to have the first one edited.

        • Kat Von Rohr

My pleasure. 🙂 Yes, Google Hangouts must be recorded live. However, there’s no rule that says you must have a live audience. You can always record a Google Hangout by yourself (without anyone there) and then edit the replay. Also, another idea: If you’re interested in creating an evergreen webinar, you can simply create a keynote presentation of your webinar, and record a video of yourself “hosting your webinar” as you talk through your slides. Then you can edit that webinar video as you see fit.

          • Interview Academy

            Gotcha. Good ideas…as always :-).

  • David

    Awesome, guys. Thank you.

    Facebook ads+ this.

    • Kat Von Rohr

      Nice! Thanks David. 🙂

    • Jeff Wenberg

David, if you’re running FB ads and using this FB Registration I would so love to hear what kind of results you get. Will you let us know?

  • Andy Keane

Wowser !!! Nice Addition .. Yet again .. Thanks Guys . ! .. Is this available on All leadpages pages or just limited to Some ? Thanks

    • Kat Von Rohr

Thanks Andy! This feature is available on the templates inside LeadPages that allow for multiple form fields. (So all the templates that say “multiple form fields” underneath them in the members area.) Also, you can use this feature on all LeadBoxes you create from now on. 🙂

  • Idalis De Leon

Why do you guys speed up your vocals its kind of annoying, you seem to speak at a pretty good pace, you sound like your on coke. It actually should be a bit slower, it invokes trust in the listener.

    • Kat Von Rohr

Actually, we don’t speed up our vocals. This is just how fast we talk. 🙂 But thanks for the feedback – appreciate it. Also, we always post a transcript for our videos within a few days, so you can always get the information that way if you prefer not to watch our videos.

      • Idalis De Leon

Hon, I know they were sped up. I can hear it. We all can.

        • Kat Von Rohr

Fair enough. 🙂 You’re entitled to your opinion. But according to Jeff – the mastermind behind all our videos – these videos have not been sped up in any way.

          • Idalis De Leon

sure. Ask him if his nose is getting longer.

  • Idalis De Leon

So happy that I bought this system too, I am loving it.:)

    • Kat Von Rohr

      Cool! Glad to hear it.

  • Hugo

This feature is awesome but many Leadpages users works in languages different than English. When will you upgrade the FB regiter page to Spanish?

    • Kat Von Rohr

Great feedback Hugo. Thank you! I’ll be sure to pass this along.

  • Uri Lederman

why stop at facebook??? twitter?? G+??

    • Kat Von Rohr

One thing at a time. 🙂 Thanks for the feedback Uri.

      • Uri Lederman

also, how do I get access to this??? I KNOW i am on a pro account but have not seen access to either of your updates…???

        • Kat Von Rohr

No problem. This feature is available to both standard and pro members inside LeadPages. So if you’re not seeing the option in your account, it’s possible you’re not on a LeadPages template that allows for multiple form fields. (This feature only works with LeadBoxes and LeadPages templates that have multiple form fields.)

  • CapesUk

Yes, this is a great feature, I love that it makes everything easy. My business is all about ease of use and you guys are really thinking about the additions and products/services you are releasing. Great stuff! Impressed…

    • Kat Von Rohr

      Awesome to hear! Thanks.

  • NicholasKusmich

    AWESOME ADDITION! Love it.
2 questions… is this only for Pro account holders as I don’t see the option in my account.
Also, when someone hits the opt in for do they have the OPTION to not use FB and toggle to a regular opt in, or is it ‘forced’ if they are logged into FB?

    • Kat Von Rohr

      Great questions Nicholas.
      1. No, this is not a pro feature – it’s available to both standard and pro LeadPages customers. If you’re not seeing the option in your account, it’s possible you’re not on a LeadPages template that allows for multiple form fields. (This feature only works with LeadBoxes and LeadPages templates that have multiple form fields.)

      2. If your potential subscribers are logged into Facebook, then yes, your page will automatically ask them to sign up via Facebook. At this time, there is no option to not opt-in via Facebook. (Again, assuming they’re logged in.)

  • Paul

As you can see, the Facebook option doesn’t appear on my LeadPages.

    Is it April 1 already?

    • Kat Von Rohr

Not that I know of. 🙂 At this time, this new Facebook feature only works on LeadBoxes and templates that allow for multiple form fields. If you’re in your LeadPages account, and you’re not seeing this “use Facebook registration” in your integration settings — then it’s very likely that you’re on a template that does not allow for multiple form fields.

      • Paul

Then why would you NOT make it available for multiple form fields?

        • Kat Von Rohr

My apologies Paul. It looks like you have AWeber from your image above. At this time, this new Facebook feature does not work with AWeber, because of AWeber’s terms of service. So as much as we’d like to, we can’t troubleshoot this for you. Again, my apologies for this.

          • Paul

Don’t lose any sleep over this. Not your fault. Really.

But thanks for your attention to this.

  • Adam

I am trying to use the Facebook intergration but it doens’t seem to work with Aweber even though I’m using a template that has multiple fields. It shows up when I change the integration to Mailchimp. Is there a reason for this and how do I get it to work with Aweber?

    • Kat Von Rohr

At this time, this Facebook registration feature does not work with AWeber, due to AWeber’s terms of service. Sorry about that Adam.

  • Ishan

Has someone split-tested conversions between a FB registration page VS a normal squeeze page? I don’t know if a FB registration page would convert at 50%+.. maybe it will, maybe it won’t..

    • Kat Von Rohr

Couldn’t agree more. Like any new variable you add to your pages, Facebook registration could either positively or negatively impact your results (depending on your business, industry, audience etc.), so you’ll want to test to find out.

  • Oh, hell yes.

    • Kat Von Rohr

      Nice! Thanks Barry. 🙂

  • I am trying to do it now. I don’t see the FB box under integration options (I’m using Aweber)

    • Kat Von Rohr

My apologies Barry. At this time, this Facebook feature does not work with AWeber, due to AWeber’s terms of service.

      • That’s really interesting. Aweber actually has a FB integration within their web forms and have done for years. So I wonder how it can be against their terms?

  • markus

What about translation? The facebook registration part is shown in english only, or am I missing something?

    • Kat Von Rohr

Very good question. At this time, you can only use this Facebook registration feature in English. However, I will be sure to pass your feedback on about offering multiple languages on Facebook registration in the future.

  • Terry Loftus

    hi
just tried changing an existing page and the option of adding optin via facebook does not come up? Do I have to create a new page?

    • Kat Von Rohr

Good question. You can only use Facebook registration on your LeadBoxes and LeadPages templates that allow for multiple form fields. So if you’re looking at your integration settings on an existing page, and you’re not seeing “Use Facebook Registration” then it’s possible that you may be using a template that doesn’t allow for multiple form fields yet.

You can see which templates allow for multiple form fields, and offer this Facebook registration feature, by looking underneath each template in the members area.

  • WaltLaurel

Freakin’ absolutely! RU Kiddin me ?….smile
    You guys ROCK!

    • Kat Von Rohr

Awesome to hear! Thanks Walt. Will you keep us posted on how it’s working for you?

  • David Johnson

this is a good idea, but i think you need to give people the option to register using their facebook details’
by the look of it they need to be first logged into FB to use the new functionality?
like yours, websites now have a button that says ‘sign in using Facebook’ and you press that and it just uses your log in details in the back end – this would be better as it works if they are logged in or they are not..

    • Kat Von Rohr

Good feedback David. Thanks for the suggestion.

  • Andy Fogarty

This is a beautiful thing. Well done, sirs (and ma’ams).

    • Kat Von Rohr

Thanks Andy! Let us know how it’s working for you.

  • Rob

Great Addition! I plan to use it for webinar registrations. It appears that this may not be mobile responsive on Facebook? is that correct? Either way, its an awesome feature. By the way, I’d love to see integration with Stealth Seminar, similar to what you have with GoToWebinar. Keep up the great work!

    • Kat Von Rohr

Thanks Rob! If you use this Facebook registration feature, your landing pages and LeadBoxes will still be mobile responsive. The only difference is your subscribers must opt-in through a normal opt-in box instead of Facebook when using their mobile devices. (So you still get the opt-in, just not through Facebook.)

For Stealth Seminar: It’s true that LeadPages doesn’t officially integrate with it, but it’s possible that it still may work with LeadPages regardless. You can reach out to our amazing support team for more details about using webinar services like this with LeadPages. Hope that helps!

  • Geoff

Really love this feature. I set it up on one of my leadpages and got this error message in preview mode: Unable to load the registration form for LeadPages™ Opt-In. You may have previously blocked this app on Facebook. Go to your Facebook privacy settings to unblock this app. (Error: Unknown name: ‘inf_field_LastName’. If this is a custom field, please add ‘type’ and ‘description’.)

    • Kat Von Rohr

Our customer support team is standing by to help Geoff. Please submit a support ticket at https://support.leadpages.net/ and they’ll get back to you asap.

  • Hmm, interesting. I tested FB connect with Aweber forms in the past and my conversions went through the floor 🙁

I’ll be interested to see how the results pan out for others.

    • Kat Von Rohr

Thanks for the feedback Melissa. We have also seen split tests where this kind of Facebook functionality both decreased and increased results. It really depends on your industry and audience, so I’d encourage everyone to test this new feature to see how it works for your business.

  • BillSolano

Yes, I plan to add it to my existing leadpages …

    • Kat Von Rohr

      Nice! Thanks Bill.

  • Robson Tavares

    thanks

    • Kat Von Rohr

      Thank you Robson!

  • Terry Loftus

Hi Kat it allows multiple form fields. it is the page were the girl on the beach is looking directly at an optin form

    • Kat Von Rohr

Sorry about that. In that case, I’d reach out to our support team about this issue. You can submit a support ticket at https://support.leadpages.net/ and our team will get back to you as soon as possible.

  • Lars W

    Oh yeaaaah!

    • Kat Von Rohr

Nice! Let us know how it’s working for you Lars. 🙂

  • William Blizzard

    yes

  • Helle

just fab, yes i will use this

    • Kat Von Rohr

Thanks! Let us know how it’s working for you.

  • Austin Roberson

You guys rock. Ever since I began using lead pages, my opt ins have increased by more than 30%. WOWEEE! I am super pumped to use this new feature when advertising my Mobile Training and Facebook training courses. A big thanks to Jeff and the Team!

Austin, that’s great news. Keep us posted on how things are going if you wouldn’t mind!

Looks great. Not getting the option on the pages I am doing though 🙁

  • Troy Lakey

    YES! Already implemented.

I’m getting an “oops something bad happened” when I use it. Any ideas?

I’m not seeing the option… I’ve looked at the Opt-In Integration settings for several of my pages… am I missing something?

  • Franka Peels

Is this feature available to a normal annual subscription or only to a pro subscription?
    Thanks for the response

  • Jon Tucker

Definitely going to be using this!

But i’m not seeing it as an option in my opt in integration settings when gotowebinar (or anything else) is selected.

I submitted a ticket but thought I’d comment here in case anyone else sees this same issue when trying to get it going.

AWESOME feature though! Excited to use it.

How do you add additional fields to the FB Registration form? Like phone #, etc?

  • Josh Marsden

    Yes, great feature!
