When someone visits your website for the first time, they usually have one big question for you: do you have what they’re looking for? If you’re a service-based business, you probably answer that question by adding an Our Services page to your website. And you’ve probably spent some time and energy considering how you present those services, with descriptions that are:

  • Clear
  • Compelling
  • Detailed
  • And maybe even calibrated for SEO

That’s a great start to any services page design, but it’s still missing one very important thing . . . A call to action. That’s the crucial element in our new Our Services Opt-in Page template. Check out the page and download a free copy to use on your own site below:

[cta-box] Without a strong call to action, your services page—which is almost certainly one of the highest-traffic pages on your site—is likely to lose most of the traffic it gets. Why? Well, here’s what happens on the visitor’s side. In fact, I’ve been one of these flaky visitors myself—very recently. It went like this: I knew I needed to hire a new dog walker, so I searched Yelp reviews, visited a half-dozen dog-walking companies’ websites, and looked at their service pages to see if they were offering what I wanted for my mutts at a reasonable price. I narrowed my choices down to 3 top candidates. Then . . . those 3 companies’ service pages sat open in a browser window on my computer for about 2 weeks. Eventually, my time for decision-making ran out. I hastily called my top choice to schedule an appointment and hired them. Now, that worked out fine for me as a customer, but I don’t expect any of these companies would be pleased with my decision-making process. Couldn’t their service pages have done something more to influence my decision, and bring me to that decision faster? I think they could have. Imagine that, instead of simply listing a phone number and inviting prospective customers to reach out, one of those companies’ service pages had included a call-to-action button that:

  • Allowed customers to book a consultation directly with a simple form
  • Offered a coupon for a service discount
  • Invited me to download a guide to little-known dog-walking spots in the city

Any one of these strategies could have captured my attention and my email address and helped me choose between companies with very similar offerings. The new Our Services page design comes with not just 1, but 4 prominent calls to action. You can use them to drive visitors to any action you like—the important thing is that people have an opportunity to connect with you wherever they are on the page. Let’s take a closer look at some of the other components of this page:

  • Navigation: Because your services page is a core piece of your website, you’ll likely want to include navigation to the other most important pages on your site. We’ve included a very lightweight navigation menu at the top and bottom so that all your other info is findable but never distracting. The focus stays where it should be: on your call to action.

  • Social proof: Don’t hide all your social proof away on a press page or testimonials page. Instead, place it where it will reinforce the authority and value of your services. The Our Services page includes two bars where you can place the logos of press outlets or high-profile business partners, plus an elegant testimonials section where prospective customers can hear from your existing customers.

  • Video section: Although you don’t have to use this section, adding a video is an impressive way to make your services page stand out from competitors. Upload a personal introduction from you and your team, a highlights reel of your best testimonials, or a behind-the-scenes look at the services you most want to promote.
  • Services section: And, of course, at the heart of the page, is an attractive, easy-to-read service menu. You have lots of options here. If photos will help illustrate your services, swap them in for the default icons. If your services are complex, link away to more information. Naturally, there’s another call-to-action button at the bottom of the section.Click below to download all the HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and image files you need to use this services page design on your own site: [cta-box]
