[Update] Meet LeadPages’ New Drag & Drop Page Builder: The Freedom to Be Flexible, the Power to Convert

LeadPages users love our ready-made templates because they just work, right out of the box. We’ve built well over 100 high-converting landing page templates that require very little customization to work for you.

But once in awhile, you may come across a situation where you need to do something a little different, such as:

  • Add a countdown timer for an event
  • Move the call to action to a different spot
  • Add a video or image to a page
  • Make a slight adjustment to the page layout

We’ve always aimed to take the guesswork out of making great landing pages, but we also understand the need to make those pages your own. In fact, you’ve told us so. The number one most requested feature has been more flexibility in editing landing pages. We’ve been listening.

We’ve spent countless hours working directly with customers to troubleshoot and optimize their marketing programs, and we’re thrilled that we’re able to announce a revolutionary improvement to our software as a result.

In a nutshell: now when you get LeadPages, you get our proven, ready-made landing pages along with the flexibility of a drag-and-drop builder.

Not only can you edit and publish high-converting landing pages, you can totally customize them to suit your needs. That means you can:

  • Easily add new elements to any section of your page
  • Move individual elements and entire sections to adjust information flow
  • Be sure that no matter what you change, your page will be mobile-responsive and look great on every device

… all without the help of a professional designer or programmer.

An all-new toolbar on the left allows you to simply pick from a variety of widgets and layout elements to add to your landing page. Drag it, drop it, and the built-in grid system will snap elements into perfect alignment—simple! The new toolbar also gives you control over page and column width, background colors, and images.

All of the familiar landing page elements are available in the toolbar: headlines, text, images, buttons, videos, and countdown timers. They’re all ready to be added anywhere on your page.

You’ll see that there are some new widgets available in the toolbar, too. Now you can choose between placing an opt-in form right on the page and letting a button or image trigger the form.

There are also new social-share widgets and compound widgets that allow you to drag an image/text combo field or calendar/text combo field right onto your page. No matter where you place a widget, it’ll snap right into place on every kind of screen.

The new drag and drop builder has been reengineered from the ground up with an entirely new user interface that also makes it easier than ever to edit individual elements.

For instance, you can edit text formatting, fonts, and colors without clicking away and breaking your stream of thought. You can change button styles, move social-share icons, choose line styles, and change colors and background images right within the page.

And if you’re looking for more advanced functionality, you won’t be disappointed. You can now …

  • Add social likes and comments to any page for better visitor engagement
  • Edit your page’s Open Graph tags so that when you share your page on Facebook, it displays the exact image, title, and description you choose
  • Use the new timing control to let elements pop onto the page after a time delay, making pages more dynamic
  • Add calendars, maps, calculators, menus and more with the new HTML/JavaScript widget

The possibilities are virtually endless.

Easily embed any HTML or JavaScript widget, such as an interactive map.

All of this new flexibility and power is available to use with your LeadBoxes, too. These essential list-building forms are now more compelling than ever. Just as with your landing pages, you can customize your LeadBoxes by adding and rearranging video, images, countdown timers and even custom widgets. And, as before, you can add multiple LeadBoxes to any page to collect the maximum amount of leads.

This is a major milestone for LeadPages, and it offers a whole new experience to anyone using landing pages to grow their business.

We consider it just the beginning of new era of performance and flexibility. Our new drag and drop builder is a platform that will enable us to deliver performance improvements and feature enhancements faster than ever. That means that as our platform grows, so does your business.

Behind the scenes of this new platform, we’ve also laid the groundwork to innovate and improve faster than ever before. In the months to come, you’ll see the drag and drop builder become more and more powerful: more templates, more widgets, more integrations. We have all the technology and talent in place to build what you need in order to build something great.

LeadPages members now have early access to the drag-and-drop page builder. Just log into your account and select “Show Only: Drag & Drop” at the top of the template library. Then choose a template and get customizing.

What’s the first thing you’ll do to customize your page with the new drag-and-drop builder? Tell us in the comments below!

  • Joey Weber

Heads up – the button to purchase just opens a larger image of the button. 🙂

    • Thanks for pointing that out Joey. Weird glitch, but it’s working now.

  • Arslan Akhmedov

Hi! I see a WP toolbar on the front of the page with Jeff Wenberg avatar signed in =)) Something goings wrong! Tried to enter to the dashboard and my IP has been banned by JetPack. I think you need to fix this asap )

UPDATED: Yep! It’s gone ) But it was weird =))

  • JackoM

Congratulations on the new LP builder! Looks really good! One question: will the ‘other older’ templates also be available for the new Drag and Drop Builder? Currently I have one opt-in page in my business, and I would love to ‘drag’ an opt-in button to the top, but the template is not available (yet?) for the new Builder.

    • Hi JackoM – the LP team is converting the classic templates to D&D, based on customer use and conversion rates. We’ll keep adding them in as we complete their conversion.

      • JackoM

      • JackoM

        Hi Bob,

Do you know when we can expect a few new landingpagina’s (old ones who will be converted to D&D?).

        • Daphne Sidor

Hey, Jacko—we can’t comment on exact timelines right now, but this will definitely be a continual process. Eventually, you’ll have drag-and-drop options for every kind of template.

  • Nice work LP!

One question: It’s possible to setup a “copy-paste integration” with new builder?
I do not see this option…

    • Daphne Sidor

Hi, Janos—you’ll notice you now have the ability to drag plain HTML fields anywhere onto the page, so depending on the integration code, this may be an option for you. I’d recommend dropping a line to Support (https://support.leadpages.net/hc/en-us/requests/new) with the specifics of what you’re trying to integrate, though, so they can help figure out what the best option for you will be. Note also that we’re going to be adding features and functionality to this new builder for a long time to come, so if it turns out there’s something you can’t yet do with the drag-and-drop builder, it’s very likely to be on the road map for the months to come. Thanks for asking!

  • Hammer

Will there be a “blank page” template to build an entire page from scratch?

    • Daphne Sidor

Hey, Hammer! We wanted to focus on making templates available at the outset, but you can actually work from a blank slate right now. Just choose any drag-and-drop template and remove everything you don’t want from the page. I’d recommend starting with the Simple Email Capture or Basic Squeeze Page templates if you want to do this, since they’re very simple to begin with.

      • Hammer

        Thanks Daphne!

  • So we ALL get this or just a teaser for Standard accounts?

    • Daphne Sidor

Hey, Michael! Every LeadPages account has access to this new feature.

      • YES! YES! YES! That just overcame my biggest challenge to using Leadpages!

        • Daphne Sidor

          So glad to hear it!

  • Awesome! Long awaited, can’t wait to jump in and start playing 🙂

    • Daphne Sidor

Come back and share a link if you like once you’ve built something with it! 😀

  • Greg Leischner

I….love…..this!! This is the #1 thing I have been waiting for – thank you for making this available!

    • Daphne Sidor

Great to hear, Greg! We’re really excited about it too.

  • This is so GREAT!

  • britneygardner

Eek! already played a bit with it. I know it’s in beta still – is that why you don’t have an option to interact with ActiveCampaign as my integration yet? You can see my first test here: britneygardner.com/quickfire

    • britneygardner

I see below you suggested contact support – but I’m locked out of the support account. Or rather, I’ve never used it and now it thinks my password is invalid. Please tell me where to go for help?

      • Daphne Sidor

Wow, I love that page, Britney—nice work! Sorry to hear about the trouble with your password. If you send an email to support@leadpages.net they’ll be able to help.

    • I second @disqus_fhlxFlRHYH:disqus – ActiveCampaign – yes please! Otherwise, awesome!

      • Daphne Sidor

It’s on the way, Nathan! We expect to be able to integrate the new page builder with ActiveCampaign (and other integrations currently supported in the standard page builder) later this spring or early summer.

  • As a Leadpages and Clickfunnels user (for customized Landing Pages that I wasn’t able to do with LeadPages ), I’m really looking forward to testing this out. Great to see you guys have been listening and addressed the biggest limitation of leadpages. The templates are already awesome, but the ability to add little elements changes everything. Great work.

    • Daphne Sidor

Thanks, Andrew—excited to see what you create!

  • Mark

Can HTML buy buttons be added. RE – Paypal, JVZOO etc. Will this new Drag and drop make it easier to create sales pages with plenty of customization options, thanks

    • Daphne Sidor

Hi, Mark—you have the ability to drag plain HTML fields anywhere onto your page, so you can embed buttons or any other HTML-based feature you like. Lots of customization possibilities here.

  • Greg

Is it possible to split test with these pages? I love the new features but I can’t see a split test option anywhere?

    • Daphne Sidor

Hi, Greg—not yet. We’re continuing to roll out features with the new drag-and-drop builder until it includes everything the standard builder has (and, of course, quite a bit more), but we wanted to get this early-access edition to our customers as soon as possible since we know how important customization is to many people. Thanks for asking.

      • Daphne – do you have an ETA on the split test option?

        • Daphne Sidor

Hi, Kyle—I can’t give you an ETA right now, but it is on the near-term roadmap. Thanks for asking—hope to have a more precise answer to share soon.

  • Chase Thompson

Do we get access to the 14 exclusive pages if we’re already annual customers? If so, where can we access them? If not,*cry emoji*!

    • Daphne Sidor

Hey, Chase! Just drop a line to our Support team; they’ll get you covered. 🙂

  • Romana Handler

This message made my day – a drag & drop builder plus 14 templates WOW, well done! – I reactivated my Leadpages account today. I’m afraid cause of the reactivation I didn’t get automatically access to the templates. How do I get access to the templates now or where do I find them?

    • Daphne Sidor

So glad you could rejoin us Romana! I’ve just made sure to add you to the list of customers who’ll get these templates, so if you weren’t automatically set to get them, you will now. You can expect to receive these on Monday—keep an eye on your email for details.

      • Romana Handler

So happy to hear, thank you very much Daphne! I’m looking forward to receiving them.

  • Is there any UNDO functionality? Whenever I accidentely delete something, I dont see how to undo it??

    • Daphne Sidor

Hi, Myrko—an undo feature is currently in development. Thanks for asking—we definitely agree this is important!
