If you’re offering something great, does it really matter what kind of image goes in your LeadBox™? We wondered about this ourselves, so we experimented with a LeadBox™ for one of our template downloads. In this A/B test, we decided to find out which download image would work best when we offered a copy of our “Perfect Squeeze Page” lead magnet.

Which version do you think increased this simple LeadBox’s opt-ins by 12.96%?

If you chose Version B you are correct!

Version B, with a 100% probability of outperforming Version A, increased opt-ins by 12.96%.
Although we can’t say with total certainty why this change caused the increase, here are a couple of my speculations:

  • The image in Version B is more closely related to the lead magnet, reinforcing the visitor’s motivation.
  • The image in Version B gave the visitor a preview of the “Perfect Squeeze Page,” clearly communicating to the visitor what they will receive in exchange for the opt-in.

Not all visitors are the same, but A/B testing imagery may be something to consider for your own LeadBoxes® and landing pages.
